People in New Jersey Getting Ripped Off with Fake Drugs

Two New Jersey men recently were caught by police trying to pass off fake drugs to unsuspecting customers. The real irony? Both men were arrested and charged with possession of an imitation controlled dangerous substance, which is illegal under New Jersey law. “Not speaking about these guys in particular,  but it is common for addicts to carry imitation drugs and attempt to sell them to make money for their own drugs,” said Mark Ott, Chief of Bridgeton Police. He added that popular fake drugs include melted wax and crumbled-up chunks of drywall.

Dealing in, owning, or manufacturing any substance that’s meant to imitate a controlled substances is a third-degree offense in New Jersey. This is true whether the drug in question is alcohol, heroine, bath salts, painkillers, meth, cocaine, marijuana, or anything other drug. While this may seem harsh, it lets people know that New Jersey is serious about the drug trade, and won’t tolerate things that are even imitations of it.
