Huge Heroin Dealing Ring Busted in New Jersey

Today authorities announced a sting operation that resulted in the arrest of 53 suspects and the takedown of a drug empire that was moving 10,000 bags of heroin a week in New Jersey. Law enforcement officials say the criminals were affiliated with a local Bloods gang in Monmouth County. “The gang’s large network of customers reside in a variety of communities across Monmouth and Ocean County. They come from all walks of life in several different places in the county,” said the Acting Prosecutor, Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Though this is a huge achievement for New Jersey police and investigators, it’s not unprecedented. There was another large bust in the past few months, and no doubt there are more in the future. The fact is that criminal networks and gangs will always meet customer demand for drugs—often with tragic consequences. This is true whether the drugs in question are heroin, PCP, marijuana, bath salts, meth, cocaine (or crack), or prescription pills. The best route to eradicate drug problems is still good treatment.

If you have a problem with alcohol abuse or know someone who does, you can seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating alcohol dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
