The Seabrook Model
At Seabrook, we believe that community, continuity and structure are essential in a successful recovery program. And since recovery is a lifelong journey, we emphasize the vital importance of dedicated participation in 12-step recovery programs beyond the care received in our four- to five-week inpatient addiction treatment program. Based on outcome study research and our 40-plus years of experience helping families find the courage to recover, The Seabrook Model® has been shown to work best as a first-year plan for our patients. It represents our belief, our ideology and our prescription for an ideal care plan.
Its core phases include:
Detoxification: Alcohol and drug abuse can wreak havoc on the body and so physical cleansing is a vital aspect of admissions. Once the physical healing begins, the client can go on to mend the emotional and spiritual damage of addiction.
Phase 1: Inpatient: Our 28- to 35-day inpatient rehabilitation is designed to give clients a solid foundation for lifelong sobriety, including:
- Individual and group therapy
- Education in the biological, social and spiritual aspect of addiction
- Complementary therapies (therapeutic massage, EMDR and brain spotting, equine assisted therapy, acu-detox)
- Wellness programs (drumming, yoga, meditation, sleep hygiene, stress management)
- Recreation services (low and high rope courses, leisure activities, fitness)
Phase 2: Transitional: After completion of our inpatient treatment at Seabrook, we provide a multi-phase step-down for independent living and immersion into a 12-step recovery process for our male (Seabrook Extended Care for Men) and female (Seabrook Extended Care for Women) clients.
Phase 3: Maintenance: Since staying sober often requires ongoing education and support, we encourage our clients to undergo individual, group or family counseling at least once per week for 35 weeks upon completion of our outpatient phase.
