When fear, uncertainty and relapse keep sober women on the edge of turning back to drugs and alcohol, Seabrook’s Extended Care Program offers a safe and loving refuge that is indeed the “heart of recovery.” As part of the Seabrook® continuum of care, this 12-month long rehab program supports women in early recovery as they gather strength and learn to thrive in a sober lifestyle.
Located on Seabrook’s main campus just a few miles from Philadelphia, PA and scenic Cape May, NJ, our long-term rehab program for women is situated in a resort-like setting rich in opportunities for embracing the fullness of sober living. Clients enjoy comfortable private and semi-private accommodations in a newly renovated five-bedroom home and three-bedroom cottage.
Other amenities at Seabrook’s Extended Care for Women facility include a 4,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art wellness center with cable TV, separate cardio room, weight room, meditation room, game room and lounge. Residents have internet and Wi-Fi access and may bring cell phones (restricted in Phase 1) and portable music players. The program provides a certified personal trainer, nutritional counseling and delicious meals prepared by a premier chef and served in a private dining room.
This Seabrook program for women is a multi-phase step-down to independent living and immersion into the 12-Step Principles of Recovery. It is designed for women who suffer repeated relapses, have a history of multiple treatments, or need more exposure to the support, education and clinical treatment that solidify lasting recovery.
Seabrook Extended Care for Women provides a rehab opportunity for up to 11 female residents recovering from alcoholism, chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Referrals may come directly from Seabrook’s five-week primary rehab program or any primary addiction treatment program throughout the United States.
In addiction treatment, there is no “one size fits all.” For many women, traditional rehab followed by 12-Step support and outpatient therapy firmly establishes sober living. For others, making the principles of AA a way of life takes much longer. Seabrook’s extended care option gives women the chance to remain at Seabrook for a minimum of six months to over a year, with the length of stay determined by each resident’s progress. The multifaceted, long-term program is designed to immerse each woman into a 12-Step way of life while providing the basic rehab support of counseling, housing and recreation. With a view toward eventual independent living, the women are permitted to visit healthcare providers in the local area and participate in off-campus events like self-help and recovery lectures and 12-Step group meetings.
Seabrook is a CARF-accredited member of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Centers (NAATP). Embracing research-driven interventions that adhere to the NAATP’s stringent Code of Ethics, our staff displays unyielding professionalism in client interactions, family support services and behavioral health offerings.
