At Seabrook®, we recognize that addiction is a chronic disease requiring a lifetime of management. Even after a successful rehab experience, men in early recovery face doubt and temptation that may threaten relapse. Recovery is a process. Seabrook’s four decades of experience in addiction treatment offers a haven of loving guidance and inspirational support where men learn to face ongoing recovery challenges—and win. Our Extended Care Program for Men, part of the award-winning Seabrook continuum of care, equips participants to take on real-life experiences as they gain strength and confidence in our “heart of recovery.”
Seabrook’s Extended Care for Men is a comprehensive program for men who have experienced chronic relapse or who have a history of multiple treatments. The program is also an excellent opportunity for men coming out of primary treatment for the first time since longer rehab experiences have proven to reduce the risk of relapse. Referrals to our men’s program may come directly from Seabrook’s five-week primary rehab program or any other addiction treatment program throughout the United States.
Extended care provides a minimum 12-month stay for men in early recovery. Longer stays are determined by a resident’s progress. The program immerses each client into the 12-Step Recovery Principles while providing basic rehab support of counseling, housing and recreation. Addiction treatment includes these holistic therapies:
- Group therapy and individual therapy
- Equine therapy
- Music therapy
- Outdoor adventure-based “ropes” course
Men in Seabrook’s extended care program also receive training and practice in life skills, including:
- Career building
- Resume building
- Life skills practice
- Job interview training
- Applying for college or vocational programs
- Managing cell phone & social media use
- Balancing family, school or work life with recovery life
The extended care program provides a multi-phase step-down for independent living and immersion into a 12-Step recovery process. Each phase is an extension of the acquired skills of the previous phase, progressing to greater independence and self-empowerment.
