Parents Use Kids As Drug Couriers

Parents Use Kids As Drug Couriers

A mom and dad were allegedly using their 12-, 6-, and 5-year-old children as drug couriers, according to law enforcement officials. The children were hand-delivering illegally-sold prescription drugs, police officers say. The parents were caught when the two older children sold prescription pills to an undercover police officer. The parents are being held at prison awaiting trial, while their children have been placed in the custody of family members by child protection services.

Not only do drug users do things they normally wouldn’t, drug dealers do too. The lure of money from illicit drug sales proves too tempting for some people, many of whom are addicts to the drugs themselves. The fact is that the one thing keeping drug dealers like this doing their despicable and child-endangering behavior is that demand for drugs from users and addicts. Simply put, if you are buying drugs from illegitimate sources, you are more than likely directly supporting this kind of exploitation. The good news is that addiciton can be broken, whether it’s heroine, cocaine, crack, bath salts, painkillers, meth, prescription pills, marijuana, or any other drug. A good program of treatment can turn your life around.

If you think you have a problem with drug dependence or abuse, you should seek help instead of supporting criminals. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
