New Jersey Cops Will be Watching for Xmas Drunk Drivers

If you’re planning on having a cup of cheer this holiday season, you’d better not be driving afterwards. New Jersey cops are warning people that they’ll be keeping a sharp eye out for drunk drivers as the holidays get closer and closer. William Parenti, president of the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police, said “We want everyone to enjoy their holidays, but we also want our roadways to be safe for all.”

The holiday season typically sees at least a 10-percent increase in drunk or impaired driving, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano. In New Jersey last year, there were at least 152 deaths from accidents that involved driving under the influence of alcohol. If you’ve got some sort of problem with drinking, you should make sure you have a designated driver—or, even better yet, seek treatment. There’s no better way to kick the habit than a good program of treatment. Don’t ruin the holidays this year—get clean instead.

If you have a problem with alcohol abuse or know someone who does, you can seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating alcohol dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we customize our treatment plans to individual patient’s needs, so you know the help you’re getting is right for you or a loved one.
