New Jersey Captive Woman Found in Drug Raid

New Jersey Captive Woman Found in Drug Raid

In a shocking and sordid discovery, police performing a drug raid in Paterson, New Jersey found a woman who had apparently been padlocked in her room for as long as ten years. Her boyfriend was also found with 4,200 prescription pills, worth almost $100,000, and at least $22,000 in cash. The woman had a bucket in the room, apparently used as a chamber pot, and a TV and phone. Her boyfriend would let  her out into the house when he was home.

Drugs make people do things they normally wouldn’t. “That’s something new to me,” said a resident of the same apartment complex. “It’s scary. It doesn’t make sense, not coming from him.” What many drug users don’t realize is that buying drugs such as heroin, cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills, meth, and others directly finances and supports criminals like this one. Even if an addict doesn’t do things they regret while they’re on drugs, they can still be allowing terrible things like this to happen. It’s a cautionary tale of how drug problems in America have consequences on a very personal level.

If you might have a problem with drug dependence or abuse, you should seek help now and stop supporting travesties like this one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
