Mexican Army Storms Drug Cartel Compound

Mexican Army Storms Drug Cartel Compound

Recently, the Mexican Army stormed a complex in rural Michoacan apparently owned by a drug cartel, seizing drugs, weapons, and cash, authorities said. There was a furious gun battle between the army and the cartel soldiers, which left at least one gunman dead. The army found a huge cache of weapons, including explosives like grenades, rockets and rocket launchers, and more than 220,000 rounds of ammunition. Several hundred thousand dollars and several kilos of various drugs were also confiscated by the authorities.

This is another tragic story from a Mexico that has been recently torn apart by the drug trade and the cartels. More and more, the violence escalates, impacting criminals, law enforcement, ordinary citizens, even American tourists. And the main drive behind the violence is the demand for drugs: people who are buying drugs on the streets are directly and indirectly supporting gang warfare, criminal organizations, and violence. Drug abuse is not a victimless crime. “Everybody in this organization has had somebody killed,” a former federal prosecutor said about the one cartel. Treatment remains the best option to rid yourself of addiction to cocaine, meth, marijuana, or prescription pills.

If you have a problem with drug addiction or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
