Listening Can Help

Many people who know someone battling drug or alcohol addiction may think, “ there is nothing I can do to help them.” You may feel lost because you want them to be successful and stay clean and sober but you feel lost because you don’t know first-hand what they are going through. There is one thing you can do that is very helpful and that is just listen. You may not know how your friend or family member is physically feeling from the affects of drug and alcohol addiction but you can help by listening to their story. As a person in recovery, some days you just need someone to talk to. Someone who will listen and not criticize. Next time you feel as though you can’t help someone in recovery, remember that listening is a very powerful tool to help someone stay on the path of recovery.
