David Arquette’s Battle with Substance Abuse

David Arquette’s Battle with Substance Abuse

Back in October 2010 David Arquette had a very public split with his wife of 11 years Courtney Cox. Like so many others in today’s society who go through divorces, it was a difficult situation to deal with and Arquette battled issues with alcoholism and other substances to try and cope with it. After a few months of alcohol and substance abuse, Arquette found inspiration through his daughter Coco to not only seek professional help, but also to persevere and stay clean. Recently David celebrated a full year of sobriety and he tweeted, “I thank God for the strength and guidance and my family and friends for their love and support & I thank you.”

For those who currently struggle with alcoholism and substance abuse, David Arquette can be used as an example of how to find motivation to stay clean. For Arquette he found strength and inspiration through his daughter, and many people who struggle with addiction can also use their children as a support system. But the main lesson that can be learned from Arquette’s situation is the power to be able to find the strength to admit that you have a problem, and to be able find the professional treatment that will allow you to find your unique path to recovery. To each his own, and in the case of overcoming addition, each person will and should have a unique recovery. This is the reasoning behind the individualistic approach that Seabrook takes with their patients.
